Monopoly Live

Many of us have fond memories of playing Monopoly with family and friends. The iconic board game spans across generations and triggers nostalgia, and so it was perhaps inevitable that Evolution Gaming would turn it into a live casino game show.

In this Monopoly Live review, we’ll explain how to play step by step, what you can win, and we’ll give you an honest appraisal of the pros and cons of this game. Let’s roll the dice and see where we land.

Monopoly Live – Things You Need to Know

  • This is a money wheel game with a twist. If you’ve played Dream Catcher before, you’ll recognize the wheel.
  • You can play this game with any size of bankroll. Bets start at £0.10 and go all the way up to £5,000.
  • Some segments of the wheel can trigger the virtual bonus round. You’ll enter a 3D Monopoly board and spin dice to collect cash.

A Round of Monopoly Live Explained

At first, Monopoly Live can appear complicated. However, after playing a few rounds, we got to grips with it. We’re going to talk you through how a round works here.

  • When you first enter the studio, you’ll see the game host and the Monopoly Live wheel. If there’s a game ongoing, you’ll only have to wait a moment.
  • You’ll see the digital betting board on the screen. You can bet on the numbers 1, 2, 5, 10, and “2 rolls” or “4 rolls”. You can place more than one bet. The wheel has 54 segments. 48 are numbers, two are dedicated to “chance,” three segments trigger two rolls, and only one triggers four rolls.
  • The game host will then spin the wheel. If it lands on a multiplier, you’ll win that times your stake. For example, if you bet £10 on 5 and it lands, you’ll win £50. If it lands on chance, all players will receive a random cash payout or an extra multiplier on the next spin.
  • If the wheel lands on either 2 rolls or 4 rolls, you’ll enter the Monopoly 3D bonus feature.

Before we explain the bonus feature, please be aware that you do not have an even chance of winning every number bet.

  • There are 22 1x segments.
  • The wheel has 15 2x segments.
  • There are 7 5x segments.
  • There are only 4 10x segments.

The Monopoly Live Bonus Feature Explained

This is the most interesting part of the game. You’ll move into a 3D animated Monopoly world. You’ll either get 2 rolls or 4 rolls, depending on what segment of the wheel you landed on. Remember, if you haven’t bet on these segments, you won’t participate, but you will get to see the bonus round play out.

When the 3D dice are rolled, Mr Monopoly moves that number of spaces on the board and collects the prize linked to the square he lands on. If you roll a double at any point, you’ll get an extra roll. When the bonus round ends, all of the totals are added up, and that’s how much you win.

Just like the real Monopoly game, there are lots of interesting extras. For example:

  • If you pass GO, all of your winnings will be doubled.
  • There are Tax and Super Tax squares, which deduct 10% and 20% of your winnings, respectively.
  • Houses and hotels can be built on properties, increasing the value of the prizes if you land on them.
  • You can land in jail, and you need to roll a double to get out.
  • There are also Chance and Community Chest squares. You can win prizes or be hit with fees.

What’s Great About This Live Game Show?

Each live game has its benefits and drawbacks. Here are the best parts about Monopoly Live.

  • Bonus Round – Obviously, the bonus round is the big draw here. First, it triggers happy memories or simpler times, and second, there are some highly lucrative prizes up for grabs.
  • £500k Max Prize – You can win life-changing money playing this game. Evolution Gaming has capped the top payout at £500k.

What’s Not Great About This Live Game Show?

  • Double Luck – To trigger the bonus round, you essentially have to get lucky twice. First, you have to bet on the outcome, and second, the pointer has to land on a triggering segment. You’ll lose more of those bets than you win.
  • Lower Payouts – When compared to the original Dream Catcher, the money wheel doesn’t offer payouts of the same size. Dream Catcher offers payouts worth up to 40:1. You’ll lose the chance to win those for the improbable scenario of triggering the bonus round.

Should You Play Monopoly Live?

If you’re the sort of player who wants to be entertained, as well as having the chance to win nice money, this is the game for you. The Money Wheel section of the game is fun by itself, but when you enter the Monopoly bonus round, it sends a tingle down the spine. It’s a fun game, no doubt, and it’s well worth a few rounds.
