Lightning Blackjack Rules
As we already mentioned, the Lightning Blackjack rules are essentially the same as any other live casino blackjack game. The dealer stands on 17, insurance is offered when showing an Ace, doubling down is allowed and blackjack earns a 3 to 2 payout.
However, the lightning fee is what sets this game apart from the rest. When placing your bet, you must pay a value equal to the size of your wager. This makes you eligible for the randomly chosen lightning multipliers.
Multipliers
Every single hand, you’ll see multiplier values displayed on the screen behind the dealer. If you manage to win, you’ll earn the multiplier that corresponds to the value of your victorious hand. This will apply to the following round; so if you win again, the reward will be enhanced. But naturally, if you lose, the multiplier will be worthless.
For example, let’s say you earn a 6x multiplier. If you also manage to win the next hand, instead of the usual 1 to 1 payout, you’ll actually receive 6 to 1. And if you pick up a natural blackjack, your standard 3 to 2 reward becomes 18 to 2, or 9 to 1. And don’t forget, because you won this time, you’ll secure another multiplier that applies to the next round!
If you’re lucky enough to collect a Lightning Blackjack multiplier but you need to stop playing, don’t worry. The game will store it for up to 180 days. So you can return at your leisure and resume playing with your multiplier still intact.
Splitting Pairs
In Lightning Blackjack, it is also possible to split pairs, much like in most other live blackjack games. You’ll earn your multiplier as long as you win either of the hands, even if one of them loses. If you manage to win both, your multiplier will be determined by the hand with the highest value.
Doubling down after a split is not allowed, however. And you’ll only receive one additional card when splitting Aces.
Lightning Blackjack Payouts
Excluding the random multipliers, here are the Lightning Blackjack payouts in full:
- Regular win: 1 to 1;
- Natural blackjack: 3 to 2;
- Winning insurance bet: 2 to 1;
- Push: stake is returned.
The highest available multiplier is worth 25x. So the biggest possible payout is blackjack combined with the 25x, giving a payout of 37.5 to 1 (75 to 2).
Gameplay Example
To make sure you’ve fully understood the rules of Lightning Blackjack, let’s run through an example hand.
- Place A Bet. Add chips to the circle on the table in front of you. This wager is the amount you’ll play with, but you’ll also pay the same again as a Lightning Fee.
- Betting time ends. After the betting time expires, the dealer gives you two cards face up, plus one up and one down for themselves.
- Make your decisions. Depending upon the cards you can see, you’ll decide whether to stand, take additional cards, split or double down.
- Dealer hand revealed. After all decisions are complete, the dealer shows their hidden card and acts accordingly.
- Payouts are made. If you win, congratulations! The money will automatically appear in your balance and your multiplier is banked for the next hand.
